Choossing Ram Memory

What is ram memory?!

Random access memory (usually known by its acronym, RAM) is a form of computer data storage. Today, it takes the form of integrated circuits that allows the stored data to be accessed in any order (i.e., at random). The word random thus refers to the fact that any piece of data can be returned in a constant time, regardless of its physical location and whether or not it is related to the previous piece of data.

Now for the part of choosing your memory. Now it all depends on what you need your computer for. But the minimum memory i advise you to have is 1Gb. And that is really low. A few years back 256 memory was enough, and a lot of memory. Praise to the one who had 512 of memory.
But today, as much more memory you have the better.

Things to consider about choosing your memory
The Size ex:256mb,1Gb,2Gb.
The front side bus (fsb)
The type

The size of your memory should be at least 1gb, for any type of computer, i recommend at least 1GB. For the best performance.

The front side bus of your memory depends of the CPU and motherboard fsb. but try to get one that matches your CPU fsb, so you dont loose any potential and performance of your computer.

The type of your memory it can go from Ddr,Ddr 2 or Ddr3. these are the most common types of memory ram, my advise to you is to get ddr2. Because right now it's the best and the cheapest on the market. On your motherboard it's good to consider getting one that can support ddr3 as well because we never know when it will be less expensive and better.

Another thing i would like to point out is, a lot of people have performance issues on their computers. Most people say "if your computer is running slow get more memory ram!"
Most people think that memory ram makes your computer "go faster" or improve it's performance significantly. This is true in one end, and it's not in other.
Ill explain this better. Let's say i have only 256MB of memory on my computer. And all the tasks and programs that are running on my computers consume more than 256mb of memory. What happens if my computer is consuming more memory than what i have?
Well this is what happens. If my memory consumption is bigger than my physical memory, what the computer will do is get more memory. From where? you may ask. It gets more memory from my hard drive. This is called Virtual memory. Now virtual memory is good in one hand, but it can slow down your computer performance because it has slower transfer speed rate than my physical memory. This will cause the computer to run slow. Now by adding more physical memory to my computer i'm not making it go faster, but i'm making it being able to run the same and more tasks and programs by only using physical memory. Let's say that i add more memory ram to my computer, but the computer still runs slow. That means it's not my memory fault but it's my processor. There are many ways of improving your computer speed but ill leave that for another post.
